We respect your privacy. Onet.pl has prepared this document to presents our view on issues such us gathering, processing and using information about users.

 

What kind of information is gathered and used by Onet.pl?

 

Our users stay anonymous as long as they decide otherwise. Resulting from general rules related to Internet connections, information contained in system logs (i.e. IP address) are used by Onet.pl in technical purposes, related to administering our servers. Besides this, IP addresses are used to gather general, statistical demographical information (i.e. about the region from which the Internet connections are initiated).

Registering on Onet.pl requires filling up a form, which should be filled with information allowing contacting user (i.e. email address) and demographical information (i.e. age, sex). Information provided in the form is used by us to have a contact with our users and to better suit our content to user’s needs and interests.

 

What is the Onet.pl’s policy towards “cookies”?


Your Internet browser can store text files (‘cookies’) on your hard drive. ‘Cookies’ contain information required by internet sites to work correctly, especially those which require authorization. Contents of the ‘cookies’ do not allow to identify the user. Any personal data is not processed or stored by ‘cookies’.

Onet.pl SA stores cookie files on user’s hard drives in order to:

  • sustain the user’s session (after login), which allows the user not to login on every service.
  • better suit the services to user’s needs.
  • creating traffic statistics for our content partners and advertisers
  • presenting advertising that is better suited to user’s interests,
  • creating internet surveys and protecting them from multiple voting by the same users,

There is an option to configure your Internet browser, so it will not store cookies on your hard drive. Remember that this may affect your using of some of Onet.pl’s services.

How the information is protected?

 

Form filled by users during registration to Onet.pl and the whole process of authorizing (login) to our resources is handled by the safe SSL protocol, which highly improves protection of data transmitted in Internet.

Information is stored and processed by Onet.pl with appropriate security measures that meet the requirements of Polish law.

 

Does personal information is provided to other parties?

 

Onet.pl contains or will contain services (i.e. chats) where content entered or provided by users (i.e. opinions, questions, etc.) are publicly available. User may publish this content on these services only after authorization and decides by himself/herself how to sign them.

Onet.pl based on information obtained shall aggregate statistical statements, which are disclosed to third parties. Such statements however do not allow to identify particular users.

 

Right to inspect, correct and delete user information

 

Onet.pl provides users with a profile page http://profil.onet.pl/, available after authorization. This page allows them to view, modify and delete personal information obtained by Onet.pl about user. In case when user perceives such action as insufficient, he/she may write directly to: Onet.pl S.A., ul. G. Zapolskiej 44, 30-126 Kraków.

 

Right to choose


Onet.pl gives its users right to choose if and in what extend they want to use our services and provide information about themselves. Most of our services are available without requirement to provide personal information, only certain services and sites require registration. Registering to Onet.pl is a free decision of user and he/she may at any time cancel or delete his/her profile in whole or in part.

Dictionary


Below descriptions are not meant to be precise definitions. Their goal is only to provide a general information about terms used in this document.

Cookie – is a small piece of information saved by a server on user’s computer in cookie.txt file, which server may read during another connection from this computer.

System logs – is an information transmitted to server by a user’s computer with every connection. It may contain different information (i.e. IP address), which may allow to more or less accurately determine from where the connection was initiated.

IP address – individual number, that every computer connected to Internet usually has, IP number may be permanently connected to particular computer (static) or assigned to him for particular  connection (dynamic)

SSL protocol – special standard for data transmission on the Internet, where the transmission is encrypted, in contrast to ordinary transmission, where transmission is an open text.

Profile page - Onet.pl launched a special page at http://profil.onet.pl/ where each registered user can modify provided information and configure Onet.pl’s services.
